Gratitude

This week ten first graders joined
Officer Doodle Seitzinger to talk "food!"
They were surprised to find out Doodle
 enjoys
baking vanilla scones for his wife.

From there, this group got
serious about decorating sugar cookies.
Oh lots of cookies, icing, and sprinkles!
Deliveries came next.  You
cannot leave out the bus drivers.
This team bestowed goodies up &
down the hallways from "The Cookie Cart."
They gifted each & every member of the
Parkside staff and their final stop was to
the office of our principal, Mrs. Hayes!

of life.  It turns what we have
into enough, and more."

Writers Showcase

Do you know the value of
teaching the craft of writing to youth?
Pair that with the opportunity
to read original work aloud to an audience.
As well, have authors present their
illustrations & graphics for the story.
It's both challenging and creative!
This special day was a "Writer's Showcase."
Second graders researched, created, and
then published three pieces.  Authors
selected two of their works to read aloud for guests.

One essay included an informational piece
about volcanoes, as a part of their science unit.
Writing well involves thinking well;
that's always a goal worth reaching for!

Perfect!

Had your fill of "fun?"
We know a little about that!
It's important to spend time
together with friends, during
these final days of the school year.
Thank you to the volunteers
who made our Kindergarten
playday so very special!

The Walk

Waiting, waiting in anticipation
because for the first time in our
school history, LHS seniors are at Parkside
to walk through the hallways and be
greeted by all our pupils and staff.
Before their final moments in the
gym at Lawrenceville High School's
graduation exercises we all welcomed
them.....
in their caps and gowns.  It made
an important impression on our youngsters.
There's purpose in your efforts.
Accomplishments matter a great deal.
Setting goals for yourself
and well as for others is essential.
Chase after your dreams!
Congratulations to our seniors
and thank you for setting a good
example for our students.
We're so happy for you!

We will long remember the honor it
was to have these men and women
in our school district.

#TeacherLife

You find a dead spider and decide to bring it into school the next day, to show your pupils.
"They'll find it interesting," you
reason to yourself because it's rather large.

You put the spider into a
plastic bag for the trip to work.

Once at school you place it into the top drawer of your desk & begin preparing for the day.
You plan to bring the spider out later, and show the students.  During your prep period, you decide to grade papers so you reach for that "EZ Grader" in the drawer.
#Surprise

The spider is alive and well!
This calls for doing some research.
The class gives it a proper home and
of course they decide to vote on a name.
"Patricia" was your personal favorite
but the youngsters had other ideas and Black Viper ended up getting the most support.  We want to know, what's she having for lunch?

The Debut

Did you hear about
a brand new first grader
in Mrs. McClure's classroom?
His classmates named
him Little Louis.  You
pronounce his name "Lew-ee,"
 because the "s" is silent.
He's something special because out of 42
eggs, Little Louis was the only that hatched!
His friends feel that when this new guy's
fully grown, we'll be calling him "King Louis!"
#Question
Is he registered for school, yet?
