"Play" Has No Age Limit

We believe that children have
a full-time occupation.

It's called "play."

Given many opportunities, we 

recognize youngsters thriving at Parkside.

Learning alongside friends is grand!

Giving them time and space,

there are so many things to explore.

Trying new experiences with people we

trust is essential for building confidence! 

"Cleaning up" with classmates is the best
way to have fun while getting the job done.

August 25th's "Sunday Smile"

These third graders are glorious!

They do meaningful things,

they are making new friends,

they support others and,

they are learning exciting things every day.

Without Even Being Asked

There's a "morning rush" at Parkside.

Not usually a part of the duty at the west doors,

I noticed a youngster this week

poised at one of the entrances.

"Hello" I said, asking "How are you?"

Smiling he said, "Good....I want to help."

And They're Off!

Classmates and friends were on hand

Monday after school, to take part

in our 2019 "Running Club."

To begin, Mr. Jennings explained the
 importance of stretching your muscles.  

After warm-ups, members
were ready to head onto the track.

The weather for this first
 session was clear, warm, and sunny.

Hopefully everyone will be back next week

for lots of exercise and good company!

Promises

Your child is valued beyond measure.

Their first days of school will be rewarding.

They will be among friends.

They'll be our top priority.

Together, we'll recite The Pledge of Allegiance. 

This morning it was with help from Mrs. Colvin.

Our "Welcome Wagon" student leaders

will greet all newcomers when they arrive.

It's always official:  "new" to Parkside
but an important part of our school family!

Your child will have interesting experiences.

Your child will learn through "play."

Your child will find new talents at school.

Your child will be invited to "help."

Your child will be encouraged.

Simple Delights

"Meet Your Teacher"

evening was an ideal 
chance to make new acquaintances.

What better way to start the school year?

Some guests came with their sisters.

Naturally others arrived with brothers!

Of course, there were photo opportunities.

This sister discovered hermit 

crabs in her brother's classroom. 

One grand discovery: 

bean bag chairs for every grade level.

"Hellos" for new staff members too.

You always want to
find out just where your desk will be.

We've been eagerly awaiting our families.

It's that chance to make 

introductions and answer questions.

We can see that our students will

continue to develop their leadership skills.

New supplies, perfect for the new year.

New routines, perfect for the new year.

Lots of welcoming smiles all evening.
