We're Learning, Mrs. LeGrand

"Our greatest natural
resource is the minds of our children."
                                                 ~Walter Disney

"Music can change the
world because it can change people."

~Bono

"The guitar is a small orchestra.  Every
string is a different color, a different voice."
                                                   ~Andre Segovia

"Music is well said to
be the speech of angels."

Gifts in the memory of Robin LeGrand are
the beginnings, a beautiful catalyst for
students learning how tplay the guitar.

A Little Joy For All

I spotted her walking slowly down the hallway on Tuesday morning, peering into each
passing doorway.  We said hello to one
another; then she explained, "I'm
delivering Mr. Watson's popcorn money
but I don't know where to look for the PTO."

I smiled and encouraged her.
"It's easy......just follow your nose.  Let's go."

Sure enough, the aroma of fresh popcorn
 was irresistible; Mr. Watson's courier
found our PTO volunteers in no time at all.
Her eyes lit up as we approached the lounge
and she shyly said, "This will be more fun
than having popcorn at the movies!"

Success

The truth is that your kids won't
remember you for the Christmas gifts
you gave them.  They will remember the
times you took them mushroom hunting.

From the Mouth of Babes

History is a "favorite topic" for many.
This week groups of students were reading
and discussing the story of how Frenchman Frederic Bartholdi worked to create Lady
Liberty, and the challenges that existed in getting
the massive work "delivered" to New York City.

One child was particularly impressed.
"I didn't realize the man who designed her was
from France.  I thought she came from Japan.  You know, everything these days is made in Japan."

If You Missed Opening Day......

The substitute looked somewhat alarmed
as she came down the hallway.
She nodded and said "Good morning.
I need to get a hold of a janitor right away."

"Really?" I replied.

 "Oh yes, yes" she emphasized
while waving her arm.
"I want him to get rid of all the
Cardinals in my classroom!"

 Everyone has a favorite team.

Lots of Cub and Cardinal fans out there!

Looks like baseball season is in full "swing!"
