Busy? Well....Yes!

The final days of March are "flying" by.
There were honors for wrestling champions.
#hooray
We are excited that spring break is almost here.
Our musicians' talents are definitely improving.
Chicks are hatching in several rooms.
Mrs. Tewell, do they need to be registered for your class?

Believe it or not, an eclipse occurred earlier in the week!
(sandwich cookies were present at this historic event

A bit of ice cream made it even better.
Opinions from parents always offer us important insight.

Thank you for completing "The 5Essentials;"
all children deserve a quality educational experience.

"Hat Day" This Thursday

 #Parkside Strong
Heading into spring break this week, we're going
to help a beloved
member of our school family.

  Spread the word!
What fun it will be to see all the different hats.
Thoughtful gestures create beauty & comfort!
That's the synergy that leaders possess.

Agriculture Around Us

Our school is located in a rich farm grounds,
so learning about the production of corn is "on our minds."
Thank you Mrs. Waller!
Thanks to members of the Lawrenceville High School's
Future Farmers of America, visitors who shared ideas about careers related to farming.
Our classes have been been able to learn more
about drones, used in spraying fields around Lawrence County.
"Shout Out" to FFA members Jase, Simon, and Aiden who
answered questions
about the use of drones in farming operations within the county.
Southern Illinois is home to an Ethanol Plant,
and Fletcher created the workplace.

Parents, we want to hear from you about making our school better!

Good, Better, Best!

We think Ryan's "Wise Words"  are really true.
Just look how Mrs. Powell's class celebrated Dr. Seuss!
Mrs. Tewell's kindergartners...ready
and excited to play together in P.E. with Mr. Williams.
Mrs. Perrin and Gabby always make the day special.
Breakfast "smiles" along with
Mrs. Holmes is a great way to start your morning.

We appreciate input from our families to make Parkside the best it can be.

Meeting the Challenge

One thing is certain, Parkside pupils have really
"stepped up" to accomplish our school-wide reading challenge.
No matter what grade we are in....
Whether we are boys or girls....
Daily efforts put towards improving reading skills is happening!
We become savvy at doing research and share our results.
We take pride in doing projects, and creating things.
Reading supports our efforts to communicate and inspire others.
With help at school along with encouragement from home, the sky's the limit.
Setting a goal of 30,000 AR points is POSSIBLE, thanks to
some tremendous efforts of readers & leaders all across the building.
We celebrate success, thankful for some help along the way....
Thanks to Mr. Baum, you can SEE proof of this current
running total:  5,597 books read by leaders in the 5th grade classrooms.

Setting goals & the journey
to reach them is really what matters.
*We'll keep you updated!

Always Something to Learn!

Wait a minute, Walt Disney was born in Illinois?
Hold on!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was at Parkside?

Okay, Sacagawea really did "appear" recently!
She's one of Mrs. Ryan's pupils- sharing a history lesson.

Families, we need your views
on how to
best improve Parkside Elementary.
