Caring, Daring, and Sharing

According to the "Official Keeper of
Days," Wednesday August 17th started our year.

Indeed-- things feel "new & different," as they should.

Our leaders & staff start things bright and early!

Pupils are getting settled in new classrooms.

Some youth may discover classmates from past
school years are back again, in their current homeroom.

Who doesn't love getting to eat and chat with pals?

Breakfast & lunch times give us chances to
relax with one another & make new friends too.

We're reunited with so many beloved students.

Parkside offers safe, meaningful learning opportunities.

Because we know our community of leaders is
filled with special young people who will change the world!

Please join us at "Shining Moments" all school year long!

Habit-Forming

Consider moments that made our school year special,
like the evening when our Student Lighthouse youth
spoke to School Board members, last spring.
Kids developed habits & skills that served them well.

We enjoy having former students come to share time & talents.
"Throw in" a surprise guest, his puppy...
who'll disagree with
the impact positive role models make for our children?

Spanish lessons from high schoolers who make learning a
bit about a new language fun
& engaging?  These teens
along with their teacher made that happen, lucky for us!

Sometimes it's difficult to keep good news a secret, so we won't.  These
classmates made sure a friend had a new book and some stuffed
 animals to help
make reading a lot more fun.

Remember When?

We're thinking & looking back at some
 of our favorite Parkside adventures.

There were coding classes to challenge us.
Support for mastering "The Seven Habits."
Playground fun with classmates.
A day with guest readers from Parkview!
"Dressing for success" in March.
"Painting up a storm" & creating
new decorations for our butterfly garden.
Celebrating math achievements with friends.

Remember when?
Let's do it again!

Monday Motivation

School is filled with lessons & expectations for learning.
Yet if we miss connecting with kids to support
their passions or dreams, something's really missing!

FACT:  finding the perfect Halloween costume to
show your dream of becoming a player
as talented as Tyra Buss?

Relationships, relationships, relationships.

Mrs. West just happened to have her very own Tyra bobble head doll.

Programmers, Hooray!

Meet Sarah Ruppel, new to coding & loving it.
"I work independently and like creating ways my robot can speak with
expression,  walk, or dance.  Right now I'm adding music to my
program. Our sessions are a lot of fun, nothing real serious."

Meet Lily Buchanan, excited about classes.
"I feel our time together is wonderful because I get to be with
my 2nd grade
teacher.  Being with others and having a
chance to work with the
robots is so,so much fun."

Meet partners Becca Gress & Cameron Sanders.

Becca's enthusiastic about working with others to learn new things.
"I've found that it's helpful discovering how to program
and
then go on to designing new projects.

Cameron feels that this experience has helped her bond with others.
"I am sure that the skills we are doing will transfer into work we're
able to do in the future.  Making plans with my partner is the best."

Meet Evelyn Padgett & Hadley Kolb, the duo.

Evelyn knows the sessions help girls contribute ideas to each other.
"I think there is a lot of creativity going on and there's no limiting us.
Programming classes help us synergize and I really like it."

Hadley feels the sessions give her the chance to do lots of problem solving.
"I find that once the directions are clear and we can practice,
coding is really easy.  We have ideas and get to create our
own projects.  I
t's really so much fun."

Thank you Mrs. Gray and our coding scholars.

Relationships

Learning is important.

Some say it requires a lot of love.

Careful communication is essential.

Fun often "gets things started!"

Enthusiasm for learning comes into play, hooray!

     New experiences are valuable.

      Someone willing to encourage...

A community that recognizes progress made by kids...

A place to honor the efforts of youngsters...

We're most successful due to faithful relationships.
