We "Second" That

"Oh- a proud moment!
I was recently told how much
of a gentleman my son is,
as he held open a door for a
momma at school the other day.
Makes me feel wonderful to
hear that I'm raising a good boy."

A Rose for Mrs. Salmond

"We're in third grade now but I'll never forget
my
second grade teacher, Mrs. Salmond.
I
hope we can see one another now and then.  She
will be
proud that I am going to do my very
best every
day this school year."  ~Sydney

What Would You Do?

We want to give a BIG "Shout-Out" to members of our local Fire Department for sharing safety messages and conducting numerous activities with all Parkside classes during Fire Safety Week.

One afternoon a preschool student was asked to explain what to do if your clothing catches on fire. This little one looked at the fireman and replied, "I would stop......jump.....and twirl."

Never Say "Never!"

"We learned about Columbus with Mrs. Theriac.  You know, the Queen of Spain gave him the Nina, the Pinta and Santa Maria for his trip.  Lucky for us, Columbus never gave up looking for those spices!"  ~Shawnetta

Did You Notice?

Recently a staff member was given a small, pink note by a child who had something important to  share.  The teacher was personally handed the message or rather, the child's observation.  The writer complemented the woman on her outfit, noting the colors and how pretty the entire ensemble looked.  The carefully worded message was signed: "The Fashion Police."

Rest-In-Peace

While building words containing silent e's, the conversation got interesting!

Mrs. Fuller:  "Now, we've built the word r-i-p-e with our rubber letters.
Can anyone tell me what it means, Alexis?"
Alexis:  "Ripe means something is ready to eat.  Like- the banana is ripe."
Mrs. Fuller:  "Yes, good!  What happens when we take off the silent e at the end of ripe?"
Alexis:  "We get the word rip."
Mrs. Fuller:  "Correct; we get rip, with a short i.  What does that mean?"
Alexis:  "R-i-p.....it's something you see on a tombstone."
