Think Win-Win

Being a good sport?
Very important because it sends the message that we want everyone to be a success.

Chicago Cubs fan Mr. Seaney challenged
Mr. Brush, who roots for the St. Louis Cardinals to a friendly wager last season.
The terms:  whichever fan predicted their team would capture the division "win" would watch
the other gentleman don the jersey of a
player from the victorious club.

Mr. Seaney's Cubs won their division
and Mr. Brush good naturedly wore
this Chicago jersey just last week.

Saturday Smile

When you get to prep for
2016 Red Ribbon Week
there's only one Mr. D.
Evan knows he's a "hero"
and gets to call him dad!

Seek 1st to Understand & Be Understood

We listen to other people's ideas & feelings.
Why?
We want to learn and see
things from their viewpoints.
Everyone should have a chance to
share their opinions with others,
and not be interrupted.

Oh, What a Day

Our P.T.O. has outdone themselves
again, with still another fun event!
Saturday the 22nd was simply grand
Some guests loved posing for photographs
While others tried their
luck at the "pumpkin bowling"
Yes, there was something
for everyone in the family
And smiles all around
Thanks to all the great volunteers
Who went out of their
way in making
the afternoon so much fun
Thank you, thank you!
It was a wonderful day;
P.T.O.'s Fall Festival was the best.

Family, History, Love of the Game

"My dad slept overnight at the Chicago
streets of Clark and Addison in 1945.

He was hoping to see game seven
of the World Series.  His mom thought
he and his friends were nuts.

He got in but saw the Chicago Cubs
lose to the Detroit Tigers by a score of 4-3.

30 years later he brought me to my first Cubs game; by the way my dad turns 90 years-young in May. To say the Cubs will always remind me of my dad is an understatement.
Go Cubs Go."
                                                  ~Mr. Jennings

We learn in lots of ways
and in lots of places, not just at school.

Erin's Heart is Here

Which habit  is the most
important one you're working to master?

"I picked habit #1, Be Proactive.
I think being proactive is important because you choose your actions, attitudes, and moods every day.  Being proactive means being responsible with your homework, being respectful to your teacher and classmates, and being safe by playing right on the playground.  Being proactive also means worrying about yourself.  You do the right thing even if everyone else is doing the wrong thing or if the teacher isn't looking.  That is really why I think habit #1, Be Proactive is important."

The Treasure

"Family is not an important thing.
It's everything."

Sharpen the Saw

The future belongs
to those who believe
in the beauty of their dreams.
We enjoy learning new things
and know it's important to
spend time with the people we care about.

Begin with the End in Mind

"Alone we can
do so little;
together we can
do so much."
                                         ~Helen Keller

We do things that have meaning and make
a difference because each of us is an
important part of our classroom
and school!

Think Win-Win

"Every child deserves a champion;
an adult who will never give up on them;
who understands the power of connection
and insists they become
the best they can be."

Be Proactive

We're in charge!
 That means taking
 initiative
for our learning each day.
If you're curious, the girls won
the game of Tic-Tac-Toe in this round!

Seek First to Understand

Nothing beats a good book!

Story time gives us
chances to understand
new ideas or points of view.
We imagine and then share our thoughts.

Synergy

Ah, the time came for
us to release our butterflies.
Learning together in our
group helps to create better ideas
than what one person can do alone!

Begin With the End in Mind

We know that pupils, families
and staff are all equally important
for successes @ Parkside Elementary.

Be Proactive

When asked to help at the door, these
 two students volunteered right away.
Each of us is responsible
for ourselves and can take the
initiative to help
without hesitation.

Think Win-Win

Being one of those people who make
life better, just by being in it?  Oh, yes!
We try to make others happy.
Showing respect for others is
wise because being selfish
is just not right!
