An Event to Remember

There was much preparation across our
school, for days before "Leadership Night."
Thanks to our teachers, staff & pupils
for taking the necessary steps
to make April 19th so special!
The evening finally arrived
and our tour guides were in place,
ready to show guests around the building.
Enthusiasm reigned in every turn!
We felt fortunate that so many guests
came to support our young people; thank you!
Our beloved students were
truly spectacular; we
know you agree!
They represented each step
of becoming successful,
confident & capable
youngsters.
That's what we're all about at Parkside!

Saturday Smile

We want to give a "shout-out"
to the folks at
WAKO Radio for inviting Anaisha & Emma
to the station, to remind listeners  about Leadership Night!

It was their first opportunity to

visit WAKO and do a live broadcast.
Special thanks to Mr. Arvin Hawkins for
helping our students feel welcome.
Yes, giggling was allowed!

Success Looks Grand on You!

The home, family, the richness of language,
and relationships are all important for kids.  The
presence of books and conversations combine to nurture literate youth.
What occurs in school can make a
vital, positive
difference for our youngsters.

Congratulations to Mrs. Gray's 2nd graders
for meeting their AR goal of 1,000 points
during the school year.
#1,002 points as of April 9th!
Today they "celebrated" with pizza,
time in the park &
a Peanuts movie.

It's Strategy, Right?

"Play is often talked about as if it were a
 relief from serious learning.  But,

for children, play is serious learning.
Play is really the work of childhood."

A Springtime FFA Event

It's not every day that we're
invited to Lawrenceville High School,

as special guests of local FFA members.
Welcomed were PreK through 5th graders!

FFA stands for "Future Farmers
 of America." It's an intracurricular
student
organization for those interested
 in agriculture and leadership.

Lucky were we to see familiar faces,
who introduced us to a few "feathered friends."
Members answered questions about their
animals & the care necessary to manage
these creatures, while keeping them healthy.
#OneOfTheFavorites
That day this friendly
pooch
seemed to be "in charge!"

Just how BIG is a tractor?
As visitors throughout the day,
including Mrs. McClure's pupils

discovered.....pretty darn big!

"Leader in Me" Public Victory Celebration

Setting the stage for
introductions,
thank you Mr. Jennings!
A packed house @ Parkside, yes, yes!
#ExtraLove from our
very own Parkview Jr. High Cheerleaders!
Recognized....one by one,
preschoolers through fifth graders.
Habit #4 Honorees:  Think Win-Win
"I want everyone to be a success.
I don't have to put others down to get what I want.
When a conflict happens, I look for a third solution.
I believe that we all can win!"
Habit #5 Honorees:
Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood
"I listen to other people's ideas and feelings.
I try to see things from their viewpoints.
I listen to others without interrupting.
I share my opinions and ideas."
Habit #6 Honorees: Synergize
"I know that everyone is good at something.
Everyone needs to get better at something.
We can all learn something from each other.
Working in groups helps create better ideas
than what one person can do alone."

Lots of smiles & surprises......
Good natured fun as well!
#NurturingYoungLeaders
Congratulations to all our pupils who
come together each day, to learn & grow.

Headed to Spring Break

"Wear the jersey of your favorite
major league baseball team," they said.
It was after all, the opening day
of the 2018 MLB season, across the U.S.
And we did.....
Lots of Cardinal & Cubs attire at school.
Smiles all around too.
Indeed, Mrs. Hayes & Mr. Seaney joined in on
the fun.  Whatever people chose to wear
that day, it felt like we were all
on the same team!
