Encourage the Writer

Fred wrote a love song for his wife
and it's trending now across the Intranet.
We write from our experiences, do we not?
Let's encourage youngsters to
 express themselves
and record history.
Efforts like these do not go
unnoticed or unrewarded.

On-Top-of-the-World

When you see a child leave school smiling
and know their time has been filled with
successful, productive, and happy
learning opportunities it's so satisfying.

Today I suspected Christopher was wrapping up a splendid day as
he walked down the hall.

Nodding good-bye to me he said,
"Blame Miss Negley......she's powerful!"

Still Smiling

"You know it is something
when the kitchen's really hot
and we are all in line for lunch.
But the
cooks are still smiling!"

Making Mistakes

Last week while listening to readers,
I was noting some details
and stopped to erase and change
the information on the child's record.  Watching me, the student asked what
was happening and I explained to him
that I was correcting myself.

"Oh (sigh) I made an error.  Hmm,
I need to make sure
this is written
correctly;  it will just take me a
moment.  Teachers are people too
and we sometimes make mistakes."

"Well.....you're certainly not an alien!"  ~Isaac

Hooked On Jokes and Riddles

"Hats off" to Mr. Jennings for
sharing this book in his classroom library with Aaron.  Now this child's hooked
on jokes &
riddles this 1st week of school!  Here are some of Aaron's favorites:

"What did the Lone Ranger say when he fell off his horse?"
I've fallen and I can't giddyup.

"Where do monkeys pick up wild rumors?"
Through the grapevine.

"What do witches put in their hair?"
Scare spray!

"What is a soda machine's favorite dance?"
The can-can!

"What do you get when you cross
your brother with an owl?"

A wise guy!

You can follow Parkside Kids on Twitter
where we'll share Aaron's jokes along with
more learning fun and
games from school.
Just send them a "Friend Request:"

A Rose for Mrs. Salmond

"We're in third grade now but I'll never forget
my
second grade teacher, Mrs. Salmond.
I
hope we can see one another now and then.  She
will be
proud that I am going to do my very
best every
day this school year."  ~Sydney
