Faith, Family, Football!

Just a "little excitement
going on at school this
week......some of it in secret!

Young people from
Kindergarten through 2nd grade
 created banners to wish
our L.H.S. football Indians,
cheerleaders, coaches & manager
the VERY best
luck as they head into the Class
2A IHSA football play-off series.

 Thanks Mrs. Jamie Schultz
for taking & getting our hand-off
displayed at L.H.S.

Here's wishing our team
and families safe travels as they
 head to Chester, Illinois today
to take on the Yellow Jackets.

October Days

You just never know
what will happen the week
that Halloween comes to town!

 2nd graders could barely
wait for "Fall Follies" to begin.

Yes......and their Pumpkin
Bowling was a huge hit!

 Ah pajama day, a
favorite during Red Ribbon Week.

Lots of smiles to go around.

Yet down the hall......
  What?
Yikes, it appears some
mischief is going on in
the 4th/5th grade wing!

Why, Of Course....

So, students are making things to honor
and "cheer on" the Lawrenceville
Indians as the team heads into the
football playoffs this Saturday.

One pupil approaches me this morning
and reminds me that it's important to
do something for the cheerleaders and
coaches too; the entire class agrees....

I love these kids!

Smart Art

"I love this stuff!
Oh too much glitter drives my dad crazy,
but I'm glad we get to use it here at school."

To Dream, To Build

Photo compliments of The Lawrenceville Daily Record

Mrs. Kristi Gray’s second-graders assembled rockets Monday with the help of parents and volunteers. Youngsters will launch their crafts on Friday October 30th, beginning at 12:30 P.M. on the soccer field near
Parkside Elementary School.

"A Traveling" We Go!

A visit to a pumpkin patch with
 teachers, parents, and PreK friends.

It just doesn't get much better than this!

So many, many things to see and do!

 Mrs. Dorney & her staff
made the visit special in every way.

 Thanks to all those who
were able to join us on our adventure!

The Parkside family has been awaiting

Now We Know

Parkside 5th graders listening this month to Richard Peck's "On the Wings of Heroes"
got some first hand verification, via a recent phone call.....thanks to a fellow classmate.

"They all wondered why nine year old
Davey Bowman and his friend Scooter,
admired a bicycle that had a squirrel tail
hanging on the rear fender."

It took some initiative and a helpful
great-grandparent living in Texas.

Here's the fact: in early 1942
(the time period of the story)
it was considered "good luck" if an American child
decorated the back fender
of their bike with a
red
-white-and-blue squirrel tail!

Pearl Harbor had recently been
bombed and U.S. forces were officially
involved in fighting the battles of WW II.

Out-Foxed

That how they roll in getting "one-up"
on a teacher, in this fourth grade class.

Mrs. Daugherty is a Cardinals fan; she's
just not sure about #7- Matt Holliday.
Mr. Holliday may be a Cardinal
 outfielder
but these 4th graders sure
out-foxed
their teacher.

Mother "Knows" Best

"Homemade Play-Doh looks like an utter kitchen failure, but turns out perfectly every time. 1 c. Flour, 1 c. Water, 1/4 c. Salt, 2 tbsp. Canola Oil, 1 tbsp. Cream of Tarter and a few drops of food dye heated on medium for five minutes is perfect for rainy evenings."

St. Francisville Tradition

"To me there's no picture so beautiful as smiling, bright eyed, happy children;
no music so sweet as their clear
  and ringing laughter."
