The Exact Words

Today a child who challenges me said
something really surprising.  It caught me off
guard because the two of us have had some
very trying times during the past weeks.

"I like being around
you and wo
rking with you,"
were the exact words.

We'll
get it right, together.
I have a different perspective
and hope to renew it with my kids.

There is Just Not Enough

Today a child recounted an
uncomfortable situation at home.
Know what it was about?

Adults who were
arguing and fighting over food.
There's just not enough.

"Thank you," goes a long way.
"Have a nice weekend," does too.

"I'm the Greatest!"

"Thanks in advance for helping young people imagine things, and then go out and build upon their dreams.  We never know just how far that kind of determination shall take them."

Our Friend, Making a Difference

We appreciate officer Seitzinger who visits school, makes time
to answer questions, and helps keep Parkside safe for everyone.

Elevating Our School Culture

If we want our children to reach for a book, then make good literature available.
Children who do well on an assignment or meet a challenge need to know that you've noticed.
Seeing and recognizing that helpful attitude in a child is worthwhile.
Showing empathy for others is a learned thing, so model it.

What a Class Act!

"We mentioned to the coach of the Parkside fifth grade basketball team that our PreK Fun Night coming up on Monday January 28th would be taking place in the gym, and the players wouldn't be able to practice as usual.  He was so gracious about dealing with the conflict between the two events.  What a class act!  We appreciate his understanding; dealing with parents, volunteers, and busy families is the norm at Parkside Elementary."

Prayers, Thanks, Remembering

"I am thankful for the many educators who go to work daily to serve as positive, compassionate, steadfast, and caring role models.  It's important, it's what we do.  The lives of our students are in our hands, a precious responsibility.  Let us lift up the Sandy Hill community in anyway we can."

A Tribute for Time Honored Veterans

Fourth graders at Parkside perform "God Bless the U.S.A." at school to honor Veterans on Friday November 9th.  Thanks to Mr. Ryan Roush for this film as Mrs. Robin LaGrand and her students shared a special tribute with families and invited guests.

Together We Learn & Grow

Failure is part of growing up.  Kids need real support from adults who stand behind them all the way.  "Finishing a race together," is so very important.  The process and modeling is how our young
people will learn to negotiate life.
