With Our Hand on Our Heart

"Youngsters practice short vowel sounds while working to develop reading fluency and teachers often use nonsense words to strengthen these skills.  We play games and have fun together and today was no exception.

I asked one student to look at and pronounce several examples.  Finally I showed him the
word puj.

He enthusiastically replied "Mrs. Arnold......that word is 'pudge.'  You know, we say the 'pudge
of
allegiance' everyday.  And we do it with our hand on our heart!"
